Bali
Bali is one of the strangest places I’ve ever seen.
What makes it so strange is the variety of climates and landscapes that all come together on one island.
To get to Bali, you first need to go to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and then take a flight from there to Bali. Direct flights to Jakarta can be a bit expensive, so you can also go to Malaysia first and then fly to Jakarta from there, or even do the same through the UAE.
One part of Bali called Kuta is coastal and full of beachfront hotels. Its beach is also very popular for surfing because of the good wind and waves.
There are other water sports too, but most people usually go there for surfing, relaxing, and enjoying the beach.
The seawater along the coast isn’t exactly crystal clear, and usually if you want really transparent, crystal-clear water, you need to go to nearby islands like the Gili Islands, which are incredibly beautiful (definitely go).
On these islands, which are three islands next to each other and each one has its own charm, there are motorbikes, but no cars, no police, and people mostly get around by bicycle or on foot.
Another thing you can find around these islands is the Komodo dragon!
This dragon is actually a huge lizard that can grow up to 3 meters long, and it’s carnivorous too.
The most amazing part of Bali, the one with dense and untouched jungles, is called Ubud. This part of Bali is unbelievably beautiful, and there are still areas in it where there isn’t much development.
Some incredibly interesting hotels, like Hanging Gardens, which you can check out in the photos, are located in this part of Bali. They really look like places you only see in movies or pictures.
Of course, if you want to travel to this part of Bali, you definitely need to be careful about malaria mosquitoes. It’s better to start taking the medication 10 days before the trip, and if you can’t take it because of allergies or nausea, or if you can’t find it, then it’s better to take vitamin B every day, because apparently this mosquito doesn’t like the smell of vitamin B in your blood.
If you travel to Bali, you can visit all kinds of temples there, and definitely make sure to stop by the monkey park too.
One of the most interesting parts of Bali is Luwak coffee. This place is near the Ubud area, and I definitely recommend visiting it.
It’s the place where the most expensive coffee in the world is produced.
The reason it’s so expensive is that an animal called the luwak, or “luwa” in their accent, eats the coffee beans, and after they’re… well… processed and passed, they get washed and roasted, and then finally it’s our turn to enjoy them!
The most beautiful part of Bali, the place I never got tired of being in, was the rice terraces that you reach after the Ubud area.
This area is unbelievably beautiful. You can walk there for hours and enjoy the smell of rice and its indescribable beauty.
After passing through this area, you reach the mountainous region of Bali, where the weather is much cooler and there’s no sign of that humid tropical air anymore.
It was unbelievable to me that after just half an hour of driving, we experienced a drop of 10 to 15 degrees in temperature, along with much lower humidity.
Volcanic mountains, a highland area with lighter vegetation, and the deep blue sea created an amazing scene in this region.
Along the road, there were also lots of elderly women selling tropical fruits at very low prices.
If you go to Bali, definitely try their sweet and spicy chicken and their sushi, because they’re really delicious, of course if you like Asian food.
